It has been so liberating to not be tied to a 50 ft tube and a big oxygen tank! We’re starting to feel so much more normal now that we can take the kids out without making a big production of it (in the past we’d hook them to smaller, portable tanks). Now we just load them in their car seats and away we go. We were notified last month that Primary Children’s Medical Center had officially declared the RSV season over, so we’re even getting comfortable having them around larger groups of people. A couple of weeks ago, Lia took Christian to church for the first time. Last week, we attended church as a family for the first time ever! It was quite an experience. Needless to say, we didn’t get a lot of time to pay attention to the speakers. The kids were good overall and we’re looking forward to taking them out more.
We’re still both very tired. Both of the kids are excellent sleepers and always have been. Christian is not one for long naps during the day (30 minutes is a "long" nap for him), but usually once we get them down for the evening (which can be a chore) they are fast asleep until 6:30-7:30 in the morning. We do get up in the night to feed them – but its usually fairly painless (apart from the “getting up” part) because they sleep right through it.
In the evening we always have a stack of “to-do” items that we want to accomplish after we get the kids to bed. Most of the time it is such a process to get them both down that afterwards we find our motivation lacking. However taxing, we are truly grateful for the opportunity to sing them to sleep and think about how fun they'll be tomorrow.
Celebrating Christmas.
